Working closely with the chartering and operating departments, your primary responsibility will be to analyse the group's exposure to risk and to achieve the avoidance or transfer of risk through contract terms and/or insurance.  The role will also extend to involvement in the negotiation of newbuilding contracts and contracts of affreightment.  

This position requires experience and judgment, coupled with a flexible and cooperative management style and good commercial instincts.  The knowledge required for this role means that you probably have at least 15 years in the shipping industry in a commercial environment with a good working knowledge of contract law, marine insurance, charterparties, bills of lading and Admiralty law. 

This knowledge could have been gained in a variety of positions including P&amp;I, law, adjusting, in-house insurance roles and so on.
